I felt a slight twinge of feminism in the writing, and it was all kind of the same for every archetype. I was pretty sure Myss had jumped the archetypee with Entering the Castle. I found this book applicable to me for understanding my own personality traits.

For me The Wisdom of the Enneagram: Jun 08, Lori rated it it was ok. Anyone looking for Archetypes to serve up a scoop of Jung or Greek mythos is going to be sorely disappointed. Not for much else as it’s plague by stereotypes of various kind some valid other less so in my opinion.

This book seems to exist primarily as a lead-in to yet another social networking site — as if the world really needs another one of those — based on an absurdly superficial “archetype test” that would make a serious psychology student’s head explode.

Zistite svoj typ a pochopte, kto ste. Because, in spite of all that fluffy stuff, Myss manages to include a few meaty bits about how, regardless of how we identify, we are all capable of self-sabotage, and the means of that self-sabotage is often very predictable based on how we identify.


Myss has made a reasonable argument that the pattern of behavior associated with “fashionistas” is predictable and prevalent enough that I’m willing to go with it. The problem is, as a Christian, my intuition is telling me that while the basic facts of this book are sound, the underlying spiritual themes are not truth.

Hardcoverpages. It is a good general understanding, but the archetypes listed seemed a bit one-dimensional. Total waste of my time.

For what reason was Archeypes born? Can I change archetypes or do I need to embrace a ‘true’ archetype to ‘find my destiny’? The core audience for this book are women, as women are the ones who tend to delve deeply into these aspects. The result is a happier, more authentic you. Archetypes are universal patterns of behavior that, once discovered, help you better understand yourself and your place in the world.

I have the Sacred Contracts book, so am a lucky one; what about those who don’t? The idea is that you take the very predictable “test”, then set up your very own personal page emblazoned with oh-so-cute graphics to tell the world that you are a mix of X, Y, and Z “archetypes.

I’m a tarot reader, and in tarot, archetypes are important. At the end, I’m still not sure what Archetypes is supposed to have achieved. It’s not particularly enlightening, but might be useful to someone who has never read Myss’ earlier works or just wants a very fast overview of traits, strengths, weaknesses and shadow side of a handful of modern types. You look closely before you leap. The book is a fast, light read. Is this book really useful or just a infomercial to hook women into buying scents or clothing?

The author is not stupid, but she’s not that smart either. Anyone expecting deep thought about what makes people tick will be equally disappointed.
